TAVOLA FEM
La cassetta degli attrezzi femminista
LatoB Milano, 2026
The TAVOLA FEM exhibition design created for “la cassetta degli attrazzi femminista” reimagines the table, transforming it from a static element of serving into a device for creation, conspiracy, and subversion. A table with a symbolically transparent surface becomes visible through its encounter with the objects that, in a flexible way, compose and decompose narratives across the exhibition planes, thanks to a fastening system made of eyelets and drawstrings, typically used in textiles.
But the table in the exhibition “la cassetta degli attrazzi femminista” invites visitors to discover it also through unconventional planes and heights: its legs are extendable, while some objects hang in suspended pouches beneath the tabletop itself.
In this way, the exhibition is always changing: at times it invites us to explore the objects in the collection by looking upward, while at others it asks us to bend down on our knees to peek underneath.
“la cassetta degli attrazzi femminista” is an exhibition of around thirty objects and their stories, demonstrating the active, vital, and participatory dimension of feminisms in the material production of their objects.
The exhibition path presents anonymous and open-source objects, DIY creations and inventions, borrowed objects, rediscovered pieces, and items produced especially for the occasion. These objects draw from different latitudes (from the American West Coast to the Federal Republic of Germany, from South America to Palestine) and different historical moments (from the Suffragettes to the present day).
There will be objects for self-care, protest, sexual and reproductive health, as well as self-defense and feminist struggle—objects that place the everyday and the domestic at the center as spaces of activism.
