IL NODO ONLUS
Project TRE Development
Phnom Penh – Cambodia
2013-2014
The project TRE by Denise Bonapace was developed with Il Nodo onlus, a non-profit organization active in Cambodia, with which Denise has developed the idea of activating a textile production to ensure continuous employment opportunities for women and men in Cambodia.
The project consists of knitwear garment- models made in Italy, and silk and cotton garment- models made in Cambodia. Firstly, the “half-breed” collection spirit aims at illustrating the possibilities of garment multiplication (meaning “body language”), and secondly at supporting links between people, showing the garments’ and the textiles’ infinite freedom and customization possibilities.
The collections are sold in Europe and they support the business of micro-entrepreneurial activities in Cambodia, and through donations of a percentage of the sales profit, they also support the NPO that operates locally organizing numerous support projects for children and adults in need.
The fashion-project made and developed with these parameters is able to create a virtuous circle of sustainable and ethic production with supportive purposes. Denise Bonapace does not pursue production in Cambodia for speculative purposes related to the lower cost of raw materials and labour, but to ensure people a continuous employment. Denise’s projects related to clothing, in fact, do not “expire” every six months as a traditional fashion imposes, but potentially they are “evergreen”, thus ensuring the possibility of continuous production.
